Kanonaki (Psaltery)
The kanonaki is usually laid upon the thighs of the performer, and is played by means of two plectra, which
are attached to the forefinger of each of the player's hads with metal thimbles. In the past the kanonaki
was known chiefly under the name of psaltirion especially in medieval times. The origin of the psaltirion
have been traced back to the Asian world, many centuries before the period of classical Greece.
