Title: Song and Percussion Muhammad Ismail al-Khamisi
One of the last Yemenite players of the copper plate, Muhammad Ismail al-Khamisi belongs to the great tradition of the song of Sanaa. He sings this noble poetic repertoire, of essentially courtly inspiration, to perfection. The plate is held in equilibrium on the two thumbs for left hand fingers to play ornamentation and right hand ones the melody: crystalline sounds and ethereal effects answering the voice.
