Title: Transmigration Macabre(from the film "viola") Ravi Shankar
Few in the west had ever heard the Indian stringed instrument called the sitar before Shankar began playing in Europe and the United States in the fifties and the sixties. The Beatles were disciples who, with George Martin, incorportated this unique instrument into such productions as "Norwegian Wood" and "Sgt Pepper" and propelled the master to international stardom. Transmigration Macabre is Shankar at his imperious best; deeply psychedelic, yet radiating the heat, vigour and sensuousness of India.
